Meet the Founder

Kiarra Sykes

Kiarra Sykes is an author, educator, literary entrepreneur, and founder of WRITE Way Retreats. Passionate about storytelling and community-building, she created WRITE Way Retreats to provide BIPOC women writers with the space, support, and inspiration needed to bring their stories to life.

As a writer herself, Kiarra understands the challenges of balancing creativity with the demands of everyday life. Through WRITE Way Retreats, she combines literary education, wellness, and meaningful community to help writers reconnect with their craft, gain confidence in their voices, and make tangible progress toward their writing goals.

Kiarra is also the founder of K. Sykes Literary Services, where she supports aspiring and emerging authors through coaching, ARC reading, and developmental editing. Her work centers on creating spaces where stories are nurtured, celebrated, and shared.

She is currently completing her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing — the highest degree attainable in the field — and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management with a minor in English. She has spent time as a high school English teacher and in self-publishing.

Kiarra currently publishes her fiction work under the name Naomi Camryn.

She believes that writing is more than a creative pursuit. It is an act of healing, preservation, empowerment, and legacy.
